Synthetic Biology

Since its initiation in 2015, AIIM has provided a platform for the Indian iGEM teams to discuss, collaborate and hone their presentation skills while learning something new from experts in the field. It is most renowned for its mock jamboree-style presentation and judging sessions, where teams get a chance to learn about other teams’ work and forge potential partnerships, while getting critique and constructive advice on making their projects better.

Village Presentation

Teams attending the Grand Jamboree in person will be assigned 15 minutes of stage time to give their presentations again in public during the Grand Jamboree.

Team Booth

iGEM Competition teams attending the Jamboree in person are assigned a Team Booth in their relevant track village at the Grand Jamboree in Paris! This interactive space is used by teams to talk to other Jamboree attendees and iGEM teams about their project.

Team Roster

The Team Roster is the official record of everyone who is involved with the iGEM team, including professors, teachers, instructors, advisors, and the student team members. New this year, only the PI of each team can modify the roster.

Judging Session

The main judging activity at the Jamboree will be the Judging Session. Judges will have watched your presentation video and reviewed your wiki prior to the session. At the session, each team will have five minutes to provide any update and/or overview of the project.

Village Selection

iGEM Villages are thematic exhibition spaces at the Grand Jamboree. Villages consist of team booths, arranged around central plazas, which serve as nexus points for discussion around the village's topic of interest.

Project Software

Software development is a valuable skill set for any synthetic biology team to have. Many tools built by iGEM teams have been of professional quality, and others have shown great potential to be improved upon by future teams.

Title and Abstract

Each team is expected to submit a title and abstract for their project. The title and abstract should accurately reflect the work you completed in your team project and the abstract should provide a brief summary of your project.

Registry Part Pages

Along with the competition, iGEM Headquarters maintains and runs the Registry of Standard Biological Parts (or "Registry"), which houses a growing collection of genetic parts that can be mixed and matched to build synthetic biology devices and systems.

Team Wiki

Your Team Wiki is a website to communicate your entire project to the world. This includes providing background information, describing project goals, and showing experimental results. All content (text, images, prior work from iGEM teams and other research groups) must be properly referenced and cited.

Project Description

Your team's Project Description should serve as a detailed introduction to your iGEM project. It should provide the background on what your team has been working on and what you hope to accomplish during the Competition.
